Birks Chapel Wedding and McGill Faculty Club Reception

McGill weddingMegan and Mathieu planned an absolutely perfect summer wedding in Montreal this past July. The ceremony was held at the Birks Chapel in downtown Montreal and the reception at the McGill Faculty club – a short walk from the chapel.Birks Chapel weddingWhite wedding bouquetBirks Chapel weddingThe Birks Chapel is a great choice for a wedding ceremony in Montreal because you can bring anyone in to officiate the marriage and it is located right in the heart of downtown. It is a beautiful and spiritual place to exchange wedding vows. I love the light and intimacy of this historic chapel.Birks Chapel Wedding MontrealBirks Chapel wedding ceremonyAfter the wedding ceremony and lively group photo on the front steps of the chapel, the family and bridal party walked the McGill grounds for the official photos. I always try to do the family photos in a fast and fun-filled way, so that the family and bridal party can quickly go rejoin the other guests at cocktails. It was a fun twist on “something blue” and was such a vibrant colour for her summer wedding. (The groomsmen looked good too!)Bridesmaids and Groomsmen MontrealNow, the family and bridal party have gone to join the cocktails and we began the best part of the day – the Bride & Groom photos!  This is really the time for the newlyweds to relax and enjoy the moment and get beautiful “once in a lifetime” portraits to remember the wedding day and this important time in their lives.Wedding photography montrealMontreal Wedding PhotosThis is also the time for the second photographer to shine. The two angles (from myself and the second photographer) make for wonderfully candid photos. In the editing process, I create a unique collection of beautifully retouched B&W and colour images – all in high resolution and ready to print!McGill Wedding PhotosMcGill Faculty Club weddingThe reception was held at the McGill Faculty Club – one of my recommended wedding venues in Montreal. It is a historic building that has kept all of it’s original charm. The rooms are gorgeous, spacious (magnificent for photography) and the staff is courteous, efficient and accommodating. And most importantly, the food is delicious.`McGill Faculty Club weddingOriginal Wedding Cake design

The bride and groom wanted to do a few photos up in the famous Billiards Room; hors d’oeuvres and champagne were brought up to them – very thoughtful!Original Groomsmen Photo McGill Faculty Club WeddingMegan and Mathieu had a few quiet moments before making their grand entrance down a gracious staircase at the end of the room. Their guests all flooded the dance floor to join them right after their first dance. And then the party really got started!Montreal wedding photographyBirks Chapel_24_1A special mention should also be made of the very original Candy Bar – as a cute clin d’oeil to “something blue”.Unique Wedding Candy BarMany thanks to this lovely couple.
